It's Been Too Long!

Sweet baby Marcus

A few quick updates for family and friends :-)

Marcus is literally running around the house now! He LOVES to be chased!! Every time we say "I'm gonna get you!" he starts cracking up and running before we even attempt to move after him! It's great!

This morning while Marcus was eating breakfast Justin had come downstairs to let Nala out. When Marcus was finished eating, I cleaned him up and let him free! :-) Then I was cleaning up the table and Marcus' breakfast tray listening to him giggle and laugh from around the corner. All of a sudden I realized his giggle sounded further away than it should. So I run around the corner and didn't see him in the dining room or library. I thought, "Surely Justin put the gate back up after he went back upstairs." I continue to run around the next corner that leads to the stairs. Low and behold Marcus was half way up the stairs thinking he was good stuff!! As I grabbed him, I put my heart back in my chest!

"Can you imagine two of me?" :-)

A HUGE highlight of my world right now is that I am not returning to full-time work yet. I am going to be looking for some sort of part-time tutoring or teaching, but Justin will be able to watch Marcus while I do that. I am extremely blessed to be able to stay at home with Marcus again this year and not a moment goes by that I am not aware of that!! I have loved every single second of being a mom and can't imagine not being able to savor each of Marcus' precious moments.

Missing Daddy

I have read on many other people's blogs that they almost use theirs as a journal, for them to go back and read about things that have happened ... that is basically the point of this post. ENJOY

Justin is gone at camp this week, this will be the longest he has ever been away from Marcus. Today I showed Marcus a family picture. I pointed to Nala and said "That's puppy!" I pointed to me and said "That's Mommy!" then I pointed to him and said "That's baby Marcus!" then I pointed to Justin and said "That's Daddy!". I wasn't even really thinking about the fact that Daddy has been gone for three days, and as soon as I pointed to Justin and said "Daddy" Marcus reached his arms out to the picture like he wanted Daddy to hold him!! SO PRECIOUS! I almost felt bad for the little guy. I cannot wait to see how excited he is when Justin gets home on Friday. When he gets really excited and happy he has the CUTEST laugh that I cannot begin to explain, but I know I'll get to hear it on Friday :-)

Walk This Way

WOW is Marcus walking now!! It was just about two weeks ago that he took his first steps and now he only crawls about 10% of the time! He is still pretty wobbly, it's hilarious at times to watch him walk and stumble :-)

I am having such a blast with my baby, who is quickly, right before my eyes becoming a toddler! I never imagined being a mommy would be such a joyful experience. I mean when I was pregnant, everyone told me how amazing it is and how there aren't words to explain it. I guess that's why it's something you can't really understand until you experience it.

Marcus makes my day with his beautiful smiles and funny faces every single moment! Him coming up to me to give me a hug and a kiss is just the most overflowing joyful feeling ever! We love our sweet baby more than anything!!

It's hard to believe that six short years ago today Justin and I were just getting married. Today (June 7th) we are celebrating our 6 year anniversary :-) Marcus was just a little twinkle in our eyes. We never would have imagined our life to be as wonderful as it is. God has blessed us immensely and a moment does not go by that we forget that.

Is he really ONE!?!

Wow! It is unbelievable that a whole year has passed since our precious miracle has entered our lives! It is so fun to think about what we were doing a year ago! ~ Going to bed early because we had to be at the hospital at 5:30am. Wondering, worried, excited, scared, having NO IDEA what was about to happen :-)

What an amazing year! I'd have to say the best of my life! With my two wonderful boys the Lord has blessed me with.

Marcus' birthday party was a huge success last Saturday with many friends and family who were able to attend. He had his first cake and opened presents and played a lot. I am very thankful that God has blessed us with so many amazing people who love Marcus.

I just read this week that a baby turning one is such a bittersweet moment for many because we are so sad to say good bye to the tiny baby stage, but at the same time are continually overjoyed with the toddler he is becoming.

Life seems to be changing every day and I can not explain the joy and love that I have for my son and I have honestly thoroughly loved every second of being a mommy and can not wait for what this next year has in store for our family.

Here are some photos of my ONE YEAR OLD'S birthday party!!

From the Beginning

About a year ago I guess I thought it was about time I started a blog. So I am now getting around to it, since I do thoroughly enjoy reading about so many other people's stories.

Our family actually started almost two years ago with our beautiful little lab, Nala. Long story short we were in Indiana fourth of July weekend of 2007 visiting Justin's parents and the house across the street had puppies they were giving away or "getting rid of". And since we have always wanted a yellow lab, Justin thought "why not!?!" So with some coaxing I gave in as he claimed to take 100% responsibility - which he really has kept up with! At her first vet appointment she weighed in at 11 pounds and is now around 85 pounds! She is great and has calmed down A TON since we first got her. I couldn't imagine life without her and she definately helped prepared us and taught us a lot about the next season of our life ...

Which brings me to basically a year ago ... June 2nd, 2008 at 3:10pm when my amazingly precious son, Marcus, was born, all 8lbs 14oz of him! This past year of being a mommy has been unexplainibly, rewardingly, incredible! Marcus has brought so much joy into our lives and has filled us with more love than we ever thought possible. As we near his first birthday I can not imagine our lives without him. I would have to say his "firsts" - from lifting his head up from the floor, rolling over, smiling and laughing to crawling, eating and now taking his first steps - have been such marvelous moments for us and we cannot wait for many more of those to come.

Marcus has developed such an awesome personality already. We can tell he is strong willed with yet such a loving heart. He is beginning to understand the word "no". I actually told him "no" today and he decided not to touch the light socket and kept playing instead :-) He loves giving kisses - we are working on getting him to close his mouth for these! haha! He loves to play rough with his daddy, to make people laugh with his silly faces and he loves to laugh himself, pat/pound on and kiss his big puppy Nala, and most of all, he loves to dance when we play music. Marcus is such a happy baby boy, he really is almost always a smiling bundle of joy!! By the way, Marcus and our 85 pound dog are best friends. She is amazingly gentle with Marcus and just sits there when he pounds on her and climbs all over her!

Here are a couple great family pictures that Nathan took for us about a month ago.

Me and my two amazing boys!!

Well there is a quick overview of what has been happening in Justin and my life for the past couple years. I am sure in the next few post I will do some back tracking and adding onto our story!
